Do You Need a Crown, a Filling, or an Implant?
During your consultation, we’ll help you choose the right treatment for you, but it can also be helpful to know the difference in treatments.
Crown
A crown, also known as a dental cap, is a prosthetic tooth that fits over an existing tooth or implant. Crowns provide protection for a decayed tooth and will restore proper shape and alignment.
Filling
A filling is a composite resin that rebuilds a slightly decayed tooth. First, the decayed material is removed and cleaned. Second, the filling is applied to restore full functionality of the tooth.
Implant
An implant is a titanium post which is surgically inserted and essentially acts as a tooth root. A crown is then placed on the implant, giving a realistic look, feel, and functionality of a natural tooth.
